Sustainable Living Challenge
The Port of Brisbane Corporation is the major sponsor of the Queensland Node of the Sustainable Living Challenge.
What is the Sustainable Living Challenge (SLC)
The SLC is the peak “education for sustainability” program in Australia, endorsed by the United Nations Environment program as the key Australian initiative in the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. Hosted nationally by the University of New South Wales, the Griffith University is a ‘State Node Partner’ managing Queensland schools’ involvement in the Challenge.
The SLC aims to engage young people, their teachers and their communities in the learning challenges presented by sustainable living concepts - assisting schools in building the capacity of young people as 'change agents'. Griffith University provides free support and advice to assist teachers with the integration of the program into your existing curriculum and teaching activities.

The Port of Brisbane ‘Here for the Future’ Award for Innovation in Sustainable Living
At a time of global change, it is important that our schools provide a place for positive creativity and action in sustainable living. As major sponsor of the Sustainable Living Challenge - Queensland Node, the Port of Brisbane Corporation would like to recognise and reward a Queensland school that stands out for its leadership and innovation in sustainable living.
The Corporation will award a $2,000 prize to a school to achieve even more positive impacts. This could include applying for a grant, further improving the innovation, or gathering colleagues and students from around the state to learn about the school’s innovation.
Queensland finalist schools in the national Sustainable Living Challenge are eligible for this award.
