Scholarships

The Corporation offers both surveying and civil engineering scholarships. We usually seek applications from full-time third and fourth year surveying and civil engineering students from local Queensland universities who are looking for an exciting, professional development opportunity that is interesting, challenging and varied.

Surveying Scholarship

As a survey scholarship holder, you will be involved with the Corporation’s state-of-the-art hydrographic survey equipment and vessels, practicing at locations within and outside the port and providing survey support to a fleet of dredgers. Successful applicants will also gain exposure to surveying disciplines including topographic, detail, cadastral, engineering and control surveys.

Civil Engineering Scholarship

The civil engineering scholarship holder will be working at Australia’s fastest-growing port, with a capital works programme over $200 million. The scholarship holder will have the opportunity to work in all areas of engineering including planning, design and on-site construction. They will be involved in a diverse range of civil and structural engineering projects such as wharves, seawalls, container terminals, warehouses and offices, roads and services and land reclamation works.

General Scholarship Information

Each scholarship holder will receive annual support of $16,000 and be bonded for a period of time equivalent to the times the student receives the annual support. For example, as a third year Scholarship holder, you will receive the annual amount for each year of study and, following graduation, will be bonded to the Corporation for a period of two years.

Requirements

To be successful, applicants must:

  • be Australian citizens or permanent residents;
  • be available to work during vacation periods; and
  • possess a strong academic record.
