Employment Benefits

Corporate health programme

Our corporate health programme is voluntary and provides each employee with the opportunity to undergo a confidential annual health assessment and discussion with an external medical practitioner.

We also have agreements with MBF and Medibank Private that result in corporate health offers for staff.

Employee assistance programme

Our employee assistance programme provides a professional, confidential, independent counselling service for permanent employees and their immediate families.  Each employee/immediate family member can attend up to four confidential sessions per year at no cost.

Rostered days off

Award employees are entitled to one Rostered Day Off (RDO) for each 4-week cycle.

Maternity and paternity leave

Female and male employees are entitled to paid leave at the time of birth, as follows:

  • Female employees are entitled to twelve weeks paid maternity / adoption leave after 12 months of continuous service
  • Male employees are entitled to one week paid paternity / adoption leave after 12 months continuous service

Family leave  

Employees can use up to five days sick leave to provide care and support for an immediate family member.

Christmas leave

The Corporation closes business between Christmas and New Year.  One ‘free’ day is provided and annual leave or Rostered Days are required to be taken for the remaining business days.

Superannuation

Q Super, the Queensland Government superannuation fund, is available to our employees (other than temps and casuals).  The Corporation contributes up to 12.75% of each employee’s salary rate to the fund, provided that they contribute 5%.  Employees are also able to salary sacrifice their own contributions, and can choose a defined benefit or accumulation scheme.  Free financial planning advice available to all employees from the investment arm of Q Super.

Flexible work options

The Corporation offers a variety of flexible work options to assist employees balance their career and life commitments. Options available to employees include:

  • part-time employment
  • job share arrangements
  • 48-week arrangements – the option to purchase an extra 4 weeks annual leave
  • career break – the option to take an upaid career break up to 12 months and guarantees the employee’s job on their return to work
  • work from home arrangements
  • phased retirement – the opportunity for those employees approaching retirement age to continue working in other than their full-time capacity

Volunteering

The Corporation offers employees the opportunity to contribute to the community through volunteer work. This supports the Corporation's commitment to its social and environmental responsibilities.  Employees can perform a service to an approved charity or organisation for a period of one day within each 12-month period.

Social club

Social Club Members receive a range of benefits and subsidised social events.

Study assistance

Study for formal qualifications is an important part of our approach to learning and development of our people.  We provide study assistance to all employees seeking to undertake courses that will contribute to the efficient and effective performance of our business.

Childcare

We provide the services of a childcare search agency.

Subsidised work clothing

Employees are entitled to subsidies for items such as polo shirts, steel capped boots and prescription safety glasses.

Discounts

Employees are entitled to a 20 per cent discount on all food and drink purchased at an outlet managed by the Corporation (except for Intranet orders).  Outlets include the Visitors Centre at the port and Jetty Kiosk at the Manly Boat Harbour.  This discount extends to an employee’s direct family members who are in attendance with the employee at the time of purchase.
